Village Underground (VU) is an international platform for contemporary culture and creativity founded in London in 2006 and existing in Lisbon since 2014. An iconic landmark in Lisbon, the space is a certified creative incubator, recognized for its unique architectural structure made from repurposed shipping containers and double decker buses. Built within the complex are office spaces, a café and restaurant, an skate ramp, conference rooms and warehouse for concerts, parties, and events. Along with coworking offices, the recently renovated warehouse has the capacity to host a variety of purposes from theater, exhibitions, concerts and DJ events. In a short time, the space has hosted an impressive list of high capacity outdoor events, cultural activities, dance parties, and concerts. A hot-spot in the summer with a recently renovated warehouse, Village is an alternative space constantly hosting Portuguese and international performances. Village Underground is a multifunctional destination constructed and curated as a stage for the creative community it promotes with multiple concert stage and world-famous street art installations. In co-production with VU London, it serves as a platform for the promotion of artists in residence who live and work between VU London and Lisbon
